MakerSpace: Sugar Skull Making Workshop

This event is no longer on sale.

Saturday October 30

1:30 PM  –  3:30 PM

Calaveritas de azucar, or Sugar Skulls, are often left on Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) alters for children who have passed. The skulls are often decorated with bright colors as a whimsical reminder of the cyclicality of life as opposed to a morbid symbol. While plastic or paper sugar skulls can be easily made at home or bought at the store, the original sugar skulls were made of sugar. In this workshop you will learn about how to make and decorate your own sugar skull. Each participant will be provided with materials to make and decorate two sugar skulls.
