Science on Saturday: Automaton Workshop

This event is no longer on sale.

Saturday April 30

10:30 AM  –  11:30 AM

Have you ever wondered what makes a Jack in the Box jumps out of its box? Or how a player piano play can play such beautiful music? Come explore automata at the museum and see how people have built self-moving machines for hundreds of years!

In this MakerSpace class, you’ll learn the science of automata and how the gears help these machines move! You’ll make your own gears and use them in a moving automaton.

This class is recommended for kids 10 and up. Each child needs to have an adult present. Preregistration is not required, but encouraged as there are a limited number of spots which will be filled first-come, first-served while supplies last.  Masks are required, regardless of vaccination status.
