Science on Saturday: Owl Pellet Dissection

This event is no longer on sale.

Saturday April 9

10:30 AM  –  11:30 AM

Owls swallow their prey whole, but cannot fully digest some items such as bones and teeth. These indigestible items are then compacted into a pellet that the owl spits out. We can learn a lot about owls and their diets by dissecting these pellets. In this Science on Saturday program, you’ll be able to dissect an owl pellet and investigate for yourself what they ate. You’ll begin to identify the indigestible pieces left behind in the pellet and learn to categorize them. These pellets have been sterilized so that we can have safe fun learning the science behind owl pellets.

This class is recommended for kids 10 and up. Each child needs to have an adult present. Preregistration is not required, but encouraged as there are a limited number of spots which will be filled first-come, first-served while supplies last.  Masks are required, regardless of vaccination status.
